Charities We Support

St Richard’s Hospice

St Richard’s Hospice offers free, expert care and support for adults with an illness that cannot be cured, (including people with cancer or neurological, renal, cardiac, and respiratory conditions) their loved ones and carers. This may be in the hospice, the local community, in GP surgeries, at clinics or by telephone.
The St Richard’s In-patient Unit (IPU) provides 24-hour care tailored to each person’s needs. Patients and their families are cared for by a team of health professionals, led by the Medical Director and Head of IPU. The IPU provides specialist palliative care that seeks to promote and maintain the best possible quality of life, considering the needs and wishes of the patient and their family.
The Living Well Services Team provides holistic care to patients at the hospice. Different levels of support are provided through a rolling calendar of wellbeing sessions, exercise programmes, and one-off workshops. There is also a weekly Wellbeing Café on Wednesdays. The team’s focus is on rehabilitative palliative care, which sees them support and empower patients to live as well as possible with their condition. Support received can be tailored to patient’s priorities and wishes. Families and carers are also supported.
The Hospice at Home Team of clinical nurse specialists, senior staff nurses, and senior healthcare assistants, provide palliative care in the patient’s own home or at the hospice, advice on symptom management, care in the last days of life and support to empower patients to remain at home at the end of their life.
Alongside nursing and medical care, there’s also a range of support services for patients and the people that are important to them, which may include their biological or chosen family and carers. The Family Support Team offers a choice between face-to-face or remote support over the telephone and via video calls. Support includes counselling, social work, Citizens Advice, group support, and bereavement support.
St Richard’s is an independent charity and relies on voluntary support, including from donations, gifts in Wills, retail, and events for most of its income, with the remainder funded by the NHS. Each year the hospice team supports in the region of 3,100 individuals in Worcestershire.
